Turkey's rock gas reserves, which will reduce external dependence on energy and be an alternative to oil and gas, have entered reports from international organizations. What is Rock Gas?
Turkey, which is among the world's most respected countries in rock gas, plans to reduce outward dependence on energy by launching its reserves before 2020, according to a report by the International Energy Agency.
In the report, the amount of removable rock gas in the Hamitabat formations in dadas and Thracian basins in southeast Anatolia basin was given as 680 billion cubic meters.
Current Rock Gas Reserves in Turkey
What is Rock Gas? This amounts to approximately 14-15 years of consumption based on Turkey's annual consumption today (46 billion cubic meters).
On these developments, Turkey has also moved to identify existing rock gas reserves and launch them before 2020. With TPAO, giant oil companies Shell, TransAtlantic and Valuera have launched seismic studies.
3 thousand 850 meters were reached in the drilling works carried out in Diyarbakır Sarıwheat-1 well.
Drilling will yield results at 4,500 meters, Turkish Petroleum Joint Venture and Shell officials said, the final 650-meter section will be completed soon and a historic period of Turkey's energy production will begin.
The rise in oil and gas prices has also also seeking alternative energy for the world's strongest economies.
A total of about 49,000 wells (oil and gas) drilled in the world last year were in the United States.
There are about 10 wells drilled for rock gas in China today. In Poland, which is the first country in Europe to come to mind when it comes to rock gas, the number of wells drilled for rock gas is 34, and the number of wells drilled in hydraulic fracturing is only 5. The number of rock gas wells drilled in Germany is 3 and in Britain it is only 1. As a result of the work done by the United States in the last 10 years, Texas is known to produce 51 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2010.
In Texas, 12,000 people are employed in rock gas extraction and operation. Rock gas production reached 34 percent of total production and 230 billion cubic meters in 2012, equivalent to just 9 billion cubic meters in 2000 and 1.6 percent of total production.
Due to rock oil production, the United States last month managed to produce more oil than it imported for the first time since 1997.
The course will reduce US economic dependence on the Middle East, which imports a third of its total crude oil imports from Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Hayrettin TURAN -Istanbul
U.S. uses rock gas 5 times cheaper than Europe
Rock gas production has been a major factor in the halving of gas prices in the United States since 2008.
Due to increased rock gas production, gas prices in the United States were 5 times cheaper than in Europe and 8 times cheaper than in Japan.
The United States is expected to soon pass Saudi Arabia in oil production to the position of the largest oil producer.
The United States is also expected to be one of the world's most producing countries in natural gas production.
So what is Rock Gas?
Natural gas trapped underground in rocks called shale is called rock gas.
Rock gas, coal bed methane, tight sandstone and methane hydrates are among the "non-traditional" natural gas sources.
Rock gas, which has been mentioned as an alternative to oil and natural gas in recent years, is a small amount of natural gas in the pores of rocks.
