We did our interview on Polat Energy and Smart Networks.
What Do You Know About Smart Networks? What Parts of Smart Grids Are You Interested in as a Company (Smart Meters, Smart Distribution, Energy Exchange, Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy etc.? Can you tell us about your company's investment plan for smart networks?
As Polat Energy, we will reach a total of 354 MW installed power at the end of this year with our 4 wind plants with 220 MW installed power and 3 wind power plants that we will put into operation. In addition, we have started the construction of a new wind farm with an installed power of 150 MW this year. With the production of this plant, we aim to meet the annual electricity needs of 560,000 people from our wind farms by producing an average of 1.4 billion kWh of electricity per year.
In the production of electricity from renewable energy sources, one of the fastest developing technologies in the world; As an energy company that investors and operates wind farms, we follow and use the world's most modern technologies in the operation of our wind farms and the evaluation of electricity generated. Therefore, all smart networks and derivative systems are of interest to our Company and are used by our Company in person.
As an example application, data from each turbine in our plants thanks to the scada software currently used in the world's numbered wind farms; Wind measuring pole data in that region, data from the substation in our plants can be monitored online on the same screen and geographically in their actual three-dimensional locations and can be controlled from a single screen by our personnel responsible for the operation of the plant.
Together with our plants where the most modern technologies are used and used in smart network applications; By the end of 2013, we will have invested a total of €510 million in wind energy and electricity generation.
What do you think is the reproachement of Smart Grid Applications in The Spread of Renewable Energy Sources and Electric Vehicle Use? Which Applications Should Be Prioritized? What are your views on the future, applicability and current shortcomings of smart networks in Turkey?
We think the biggest goal of Smart Grid Applications should be to make the most of Renewable Energy Sources. The more abundant and inexpensive electricity becomes, the more people increase their consumption based on this resource and meet their needs with this resource, which is cleaner and safer than other sources. One consequence may be the spread of electric cars. In for people to prefer electric cars, these vehicles must have advantages both financially and environmentally, primarily according to models that use petroleum derivatives. First of all, we think it is necessary to provide these advantages.
We do not believe that the widespread use of electric vehicles can be sustainable, no matter how encouraged the necessary infrastructures are provided.
In addition, if the electricity to be used in electric vehicles from an environmental point of view is produced from a source that emissions more carbon than other sources; incentives will only carry carbon emissions from the exhaust pipe to the power plant chimney.
So, and for many reasons, we believe that electricity generation costs are almost none of the costs of renewable energy; With the electricity to be consumed produced from as abundant, clean and cheap sources as possible, people will already demand the use of electric vehicles spontaneously.
In the most recent case study on this topic; The solar-powered aircraft, called "Solar Impulse", was developed and is planned to fly a distance of 2,500 km from Switzerland to Morocco without using a drop of fuel. As can be seen from this example, if clean and cheap electricity is provided, electricity will ensure that we live better quality and comfort in all areas of our lives.
As a matter of fact, it has long been seen by the developed countries of the World that electricity cannot be exchanged with periodic incentives without making it an alternative to oil and derivatives.
These countries want to reduce their dependence on oil and derivatives; they support the use of electric vehicles and design their infrastructure accordingly, but they also support the production of more electricity from renewable energy sources.
In order to increase the production of electricity from edible energy in our country, it was adopted in parliament at the beginning of 2011; The "Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources for The Purpose of Electrical Power Generation" has been a great hope.
A clause in this Law supporting electricity production from Renewable Energy; In addition, the renewable energy sources to be produced in our country will be supported by the equipment to generate electricity, and we think it is very accurate that in our country, these equipments are produced in abundantly and our energy need is opened to obtain the cheapest and cleaner sources.
Unfortunately, due to the difficulties experienced in the application, no equipment manufacturer has benefited from the relevant support added to the Law in the period so far.
Unfortunately, many equipment manufacturers have therefore had to abandon the investments they are considering and have shifted their investments to countries in the world that care more about reducing dependence on oil and derivatives.
As Polat Energy, our proposal is to provide immediate support for the production of domestic equipment that enables the production of electricity from renewable sources in our country, which is very dependent on oil and natural gas, to mobilize our rich wind, solar and geothermal resources rapidly and to provide cheap and clean electricity supply first and forely, and in parallel, to meet our country's energy needs primarily from electricity consumption as much as possible starting from the transportation sector.

As Polat Energy, scholarships and trainings are given to university students in each period, completion projects are contributed and academic staff are collaborated. University students from various universities of Turkey are accepted by our company every semester of the year; internship opportunities are offered and they are informed by all our departments in the most instructive way of their internships.
As Polat Energy, we need the great support of all young people who are our country's treasures, and especially university students, because of the presence of alternative technology every day in the production of electricity from renewable energy sources around the world or the dizzying development of existing technology.
As Polat Energy, we have high hopes for innovative projects that may arise from university students working on joint projects with our expert friends. I would like to express that we are open to any requests for suggestions and information from universities on this issue.
Finally, on behalf of my Company, we invite all segments of society to come up with ideas and projects on "sustainability for a more livable World", which is considered the most important agenda in the world.
