The decision to establish the Marmara Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research in Gebze was implemented in 1972 and the institute has its own working place.
Since 1973, negotiations with public and private sector organizations; it resulted in the protocols of new research projects, especially from public institutions. Since the end of 1975, the "Settlement Phase" of the organization has been completed and as of 1976 it has been entered into the "Development Phase". In addition to UNIDO support projects in international relations, projects supported under the NATO-SfS (Science for Stability) project have increased vitality in the following years. s.Since the end of 1991, a change process has started to take place at TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).
During this exchange process, TUBITAK MAM based its strategic objectives on industrial research and development. Total Quality Management concepts such as customer satisfaction, quality and efficiency, employee satisfaction and understanding have been initiated to manage the institution.
Continuous development prompting and perfectionism was the engine of change at TUBITAK MAM. The organizational scheme, which is constantly being reviewed, has been renewed to expand its path continuously in line with the needs of expanding staff and research units. In this way, the participating and allocated institutes ultimately decided on today's restructuring scheme.
In parallel with the developments, TUBITAK MAM became a more dynamic and semi-autonomous institution with the creation of the Central Executive Board in 1995.
