What is OSOS? Automatic Meter Reading System is a system in which the so-called counters are frequently centrally transferred to accrual data via the RS-485/422 protocol via a modem (Gateway/Communication Unit).
Amr (Automated Meter Reading) topology is in Turkish.
The definition of epdk’s OSOS Regulation is;
Automatic Meter Reading System: “The system covering the necessary software, hardware and communication infrastructure, which will be established by teiaş and legal entities licensed for distribution, in order to automatically read counter data remotely, transfer, vet, fill in incomplete data, store the data and provide it to the relevant parties.”
What is OSOS? – OSOS Components
- Meter
The most confused smart meter in the sector – communication meter is the process. The counters used in OSOS are usually communication counters. They are counters that can export the data it hosts in a nutshell…
The Smart Meter is; are meters that can operate as energy managers of the line to which the network can communicate two-way. More details are included in our Smart Meters category.
- Modem (Gateway/Communication Unit)
It is an intermediary hardware that sends counter data to central software using communication infrastructures such as GSM/DSL and takes commands from the software. Modems are also available in the market, such as Smart Modem and transparent modem, depending on each company’s own solution.
Beware; Communication between counter and modem such as RS-485/422; Gsm/DSL communication between modem and software is provided.
- Software
MDM (Meter data management) is software with layers such as Head End. Allows each layer to run OSOS effectively.
MDM (Meter Data Management) is simply the layer where raw data from counters is made sense. Here, the accuracy, consistency and health of the data are examined and presented to the operator.
Head End; Is the layer in which different brand model counters and different brand model modems are terminated. All incoming data is sent to the MDM after it has been made eligible for a single pattern.
EDAs have serious investments and technology trials for this system, which I try to explain as simply as possible.
One of the biggest obstacles to reading counter data is that there is still no seated solution for OSOS.
While many EDAS try different brands and look for the most suitable solution for them, each company’s own solution is not generally addressed.
You will be familiar with all the necessary information for the OSOS System that you will set up in your business with our article on the Minimum Technical Specifications of The Meters to Be Used within the Scope of OSOS published by EPDK!
